Free EPUB reader

There are various tools available on the internet that lets you read e-books. However, you need to download an e-reader if you wish to insert annotations. Eve Reader is a free application that you can use to add annotations to your e-books. This straightforward and highly intuitive app not only allows you to open your e-book but import and export annotations as well. However, unlike other e-readers, this app only works as an EPUB reader.

User-friendly EPUB reader

Eve Reader is a simple app, with a UI that is as straightforward as they come, allowing you to open the file you want to read. You can start exploring the text of your e-book without much hassle. You can also open the table of contents and select the chapters you want to read. However, if you already open the document in your previous use, the app will automatically take you to the page where you left off.

For added convenience, the app allows you to resize the font to make it easier to read. There is a corresponding button to increase and decrease the font size, which you can press until you are satisfied with the text’s appearance. As noted, the app allows you to insert annotations into your document. Not only that, but you can assign colors to each annotation, so you can easily spot them.

Eve Reader further extends this annotating capability by allowing its users to jump straight to a note by accessing the dedicated section. You can also export the annotation to JSON and import them later as needed, without any difficulty. However, while the program provides all these, users should note that it can only read EPUB format. Other e-book formats, such as PDF, requires conversion before you can open it in the app.

Is it worth downloading?

In conclusion, Eve Reader is a reliable reference solution. It is a user-friendly tool that you can use to read EPUB files. While its feature set will be sufficient for regular users, others might find it to be a bit lacking compared to other similar apps. Format limitations are also a downside since other free apps can read various e-book formats. Nevertheless, it is a good find if you don’t mind a few limitations.

In Softonic we scan all the files hosted on our platform to assess and avoid any potential harm for your device. Our team performs checks each time a new file is uploaded and periodically reviews files to confirm or update their status. This comprehensive process allows us to set a status for any downloadable file as follows:

Clean

It’s extremely likely that this software program is clean.

What does this mean?

We have scanned the file and URLs associated with this software program in more than 50 of the world's leading antivirus services; no possible threat has been detected.

Warning

This software program is potentially malicious or may contain unwanted bundled software.

Why is the software program still available?

Based on our scan system, we have determined that these flags are possibly false positives.

What is a false positive?

It means a benign program is wrongfully flagged as malicious due to an overly broad detection signature or algorithm used in an antivirus program.

We’d like to highlight that from time to time, we may miss a potentially malicious software program. To continue promising you a malware-free catalog of programs and apps, our team has integrated a Report Software feature in every catalog page that loops your feedback back to us.
